As there are many skincare products out there in the market, one can get easily confused about how to layer skincare products correctly. The most important thing to layer your skincare is to wash your hands thoroughly before you layer your skincare. The first and most important step to start skincare is,
Cleansing:
There are two types of cleansers and two steps of it.
- oil cleanser:

You can use any micellar water or any other oil-based cleansers or you could use any cleansing balm.
I would recommend Garnier micellar water and bio-derma cleansing water.
If you are a make-up lover, like me. And don’t want to go with micellar water separately and need one step, then you can always go for oil cleansers.
- cream-based or water-based cleanser:
You need to just make sure that after you have cleansed your face with any sort of oil-Based cleanser or oil-based cleansing balm; you go in with a good water-based cleanser. In simple terms, you need to wash your face.
Simple face wash is one of the best suitable for all the skin types. This is very gentle on the skin and this is a good cleanser. This gets rid of any leftover make-up. It is a refreshing facial wash that is 100% soap-free.
How to layer a face wash/ water-based cleanser:
Wet your hands a little bit, take a little bit of face wash on the tips of your fingers, then start massaging in a circular motion, starting from the centre of your face moving outwards. While you massage on your face, make sure you are not very harsh on your skin and be very gentle, otherwise this may lead to many problems in the long run, like sagging of the skin and early signs of ageing.

Toner:
After cleansing, always go for a hydrating toner. If you have sensitive skin or if you have any skin condition, then the safest one is to use rose water.
Supple preparation toner is also a very good toner from klairs, especially in winter. It adds that hydration immediately gets lost after cleansing. It is very lightweight on your skin.
There are two types of toner, one that comes in a bottle form and the other in misting form. Mist form toner is very easy to use, as you mist directly on the face and pat with your hand on the skin. In the bottle form toners, you need to take some amount of toner in your palms and then press both your palms and then press on your face.

How to layer a toner:
When you apply a toner, make sure you are not rubbing the toner on your face because it is not the right way to use it. Most of them even use a cotton pat but I recommend you to pat it directly from your palm as all the goodness comes directly to your face.
Facial serum:
Now, this is the right time to go for a serum. Facial serum can be of any kind, like Vitamin C serum, hyaluronic serum, niacinamide serum or your treatments of salicylic acid. Whenever you put a serum after your toner, you will get better results.

There are two types of Vitamin C serums that I can quickly give you a commendation is,
Clairs Vitamin C and Garnier Bright Complete VITAMIN C Booster Face Serum.
How to layer a serum:

Before using a serum, make sure to shake it well to mix all the goodness. Most of the serums come in dropper format. you can go ahead and take some of the serum on the fingertips and rub the serum a bit in between the fingers tips then pat it on your face. As the serums come in a dropper form, you can directly drop the serum on the face, but make sure you pat it on the skin and not rub it.
Eye cream:
The next step comes is eye cream. I recommend you add a little bit of hydration underneath your eye during the day and at night. You can even use a simple almond oil underneath your eyes if you have dark circles. The reason behind using it in the daytime is, it really hydrates the under-eye area and gives you a very good result.

How to layer your eye cream:
The right to apply is with your ring finger. Take some amount of eye cream on the tips of your ring finger, rub it between the fingers the pat it under your eyes by looking upwards, make sure you’re taking it outwards as well.
It is very important how you apply your skincare, not just applying the right skincare creams but the way you apply also matters a lot.
This is the time where you can wear a lip balm if you are not wearing lipstick, to make your lips supple and soft all the time.
Moisturizer:

This is the most important step in your skincare, no matter what your skin type is and at what time you’re applying your moisturizer. It can be your morning skincare routine or night skincare routine. You need to moisturize your skin very well with a good moisturiser.
The two moisturizers that I recommend are Bioderma atoderm intensive Baume and the other is Cetaphil’s daily advanced ultra-hydrating lotion.
How to layer a moisturizer:
It is very simple to apply a moisturizer, you can just simply massage the cream and when the moisturizer gets absorbed well, you can just pat on the entire skin gently.
Patting motion is the best way. Whatever you apply on the skin as it absorbs everything nicely.
Sunscreen:

This is the final skincare step in the day and I have stressed on it every time to apply religiously, as it acts as a barrier and saves the skin from getting damaged.
I recommend you to use a very decent sunscreen that is reequil ultra matt dry-touch sunscreen gel SPF 50.
You can go for any sunscreen that is between SPF 30 to SPF 50. You have to apply sunscreen on a daily basis, whether you are outdoors or indoors.
This is a really important step and you just can not miss this step. All your skincare goes down the drain if you are not putting the sunscreen.
How to layer a sunscreen:
The way to apply your sunscreen is to gently massage the cream onto your skin and make sure it gets absorbed into the skin very well.
Whichever skincare you layering, never forget your neck. And always massage your neck in an upward direction.
Facial oil:
The last step in skincare at night will be the facial oil. Especially in winters, I recommend you to use any good facial oil to keep your skin hydrated at night. And in the morning when you wake up, you can feel your skin very hydrated and plump.
I would recommend you the kumkumadi oil, vitamin E oil or any oil of your choice.
How to layer a facial oil:
The way to use a facial oil is, take it on your fingertips and pat it into your skin. Always pat the oils to get absorbed easily. 2-3 drops of facial oil is more than enough.
If you are not willing to use a facial oil, make sure your skin is well hydrated. Whatever your skin type is, moisturize it well.
